The Shotover Bridge is an impressive and breathtaking attraction that should not be missed during a visit to the region. Located in the heart of the stunning Southern Alps, the bridge spans the Shotover River and offers unparalleled views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. One of the best ways to experience the bridge is by taking a guided tour, which allows visitors to learn about the history and significance of the bridge while also enjoying the breathtaking views. The tour begins with a short walk through the beautiful landscape, leading up to the bridge itself. From here, visitors can marvel at the impressive structure and the views that stretch out in every direction. The bridge itself is a marvel of engineering, with a suspension design that allows it to withstand the strong winds and heavy snowfall that are common in this region. It is also a popular spot for bungee jumping, with jumpers plunging from the bridge into the Shotover River below. Despite its impressive size and engineering, the Shotover Bridge is also a beautiful and serene spot. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking, with lush green forests, rolling hills, and snow-capped mountains in every direction. It is the perfect place to relax, take in the views, and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Overall, the Shotover Bridge is a must-see attraction in New Zealand. Whether you're looking to take in the views, learn about the history of the region, or simply enjoy the serenity of nature, this bridge has something for everyone. Whether you're a thrill-seeker or simply looking for a peaceful spot to relax, the Shotover Bridge is not to be missed.

Albeit there's not much here, the quaintness of this place does make me feel like this is a walk into the history of the Lower Shotover Bridge. This bridge used to be the main bridge for everyone crossing the river, now it is serving as the pedestrian and cyclist bridge. Almost no one is visiting here, allowing us to truly appreciate the scenic surroundings. There's an information board sharing the glorious history of the bridge and a toilet at one end of the bridge.

An easy cycle ride from Driftaway Campground in Frankton to the old bridge - now part of the cycle path from Queenstown to Arrowtown, Lake Hayes etc. Gorgeous views along the river and the planes fly overhead as the trail takes you closely behind the Queenstown Airport
