Tunnel Hill is a town in northwest Whitfield County and southern Catoosa County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Dalton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 963 at the 2020 census. The town is named for the Chetoogeta Mountain Tunnel, a 1,497-foot railroad tunnel built in the late 1840s.

Pretty nice and long and gotta admit a little eerie. This tunel was part of the southernmost railway in South hemisphere. There is no entry fee or such but we waited to go in in order to soak in the atmosphere alone. Bring a head torch. On the way back notice the entrance is not "growing larger or nearing" you even though you keep walking for quite a while. 👻 The entrance is about 10 minute walk on unpaved path from...

I've always wanted to walk through a train tunnel and this place gave me exactly that! It's dark, although you can always see at least one end of the tunnel, so it's not too scary. The rails are long gone, so the floor is level enough to not be any trouble, though I am glad I brought a torch. The signage is obvious and clear. The walk is only about 2 minutes from...

Creepy place. can go in without a torch if you are super brave. Phone torch won't do you any good. A high powered torch will show the craftsmanship involved in this place. Short walk. After the tunnel there is more tracks but if you read the signs it will say that the walk ends at the end of the tunnel so enjoy it and then turn back I guess. About 20 minutes...
