We loved this walk. Unfortunately the council website was not up to date. We checked on line the morning we walked.The wooden walkway at the beginning is closed due to 3 sections crushed by falling pohutakawa trees, there are also numerous tracks in the bush sections that are closed. This damage happened a year ago and some closed off sections have been repaired by the locals, but I wouldn't try them in wet weather. Wear shoes, take water. The staircases are challenging for the unfit. It is a 5 hour walk so remember its another 5...
Read more. (12/2017) This walkway connects many reserves from Blockhouse Bay all the way to the Hillsborough Bay. This location is at the entrance from Taylors bay. Well maintained. Seating and benches are provided at regular distances for taking rest and enjoying the views. Many beautiful viewpoints with dedicated viewing area can be found during the walk on this track.
