Bealey Spur Track — Attraction in South Island

We did this track early July 2020 and it was amazing! The views are spectacular! The views start from about an hour in and continue for most of the remainder of the journey. The best views we have had on our hikes to-date. The area had heavy snowfall a few days before and a little bit of rain, so there was snow, frozen pools of water and a little bit of ice (the ice was not very heavy on the actual track). It was a winter wonderland. The track took us 4.5hrs altogether including a short sandwich stop at the top. It was uphill but not straight up. Well...

This is Early Sep in Bealey Spur Track. We enjoy the track, it's easy track.BUT! Spending a night in the hut was quite a challenging experience.It's a handy beautiful hut for sure. You have to chop your own firewood and prepare enough for the night. However, since the fireplace was far from the beds, the warmth never really reached us, and we spent the night shivering, barely able to sleep. Still, it was an enjoyable experience overall — the snow was both a blessing and a struggle, but the snowy scenery was undeniably soothing...

Nice track and a good day hike. The views along the route is fantastic. When you come to the hut, do continue to the top of the mountain for absolute stunning views. It’s well worth the extra 1200 meters and 100-200 meters in height. The track was in January fairly rough at places with mud and more or less difficult sections. We did the track plus the extra section to the top in less than 4,5 hours including 30 min pause at the top. Distance up to the top return from the parking lot is 15 km. Well...
