Canterbury Astronomical Society — Attraction in South Island

My wife Manik and I went to Astroblast - the Public open night at the Canterbury Astronomical Society on Friday 2 Aug 2024.

What a wonderful evening/ night it was!

A crisp, clear winter night it was. Even as we reached the place and were at the car park waiting for the gates to open, we could see so many stars - and the place is just 20 minutes drive from Christchurch!

The team there took good care of us and gave us excellent introduction- first in the hall, then on the grassed area and finally at each telescope. Just 9 of us which meant one on one with the astronomers and plenty of time.

We were lucky to have picked a good night. Crisp and clear Canterbury night closer to a no-moon night.
