As a reference point. From Hamner Springs hotpools (town), turn right into Jollies Pass Rd and travel for approximately 2km, then turn left into McIntyre Rd and follow it for the next 1.5km. Turn left onto Mullans Rd and follow it until you reach the Hanmer Forest Park car park. From the car park, you then walk along well-signposted Waterfall Track called the Dog Stream. In one hour you will reach a track's junction, keep to the left and you will get to the waterfall within the next 15 minutes. Return via the same track, and total walking time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. What is impressive is the height of the waterfalls - 41 metres. You can virtually stand underneath and touch the fast flowing water pouring down.

It took me about 5hrs round trip from the bus stop of Hanmer springs in the central by walk. I’m a beginner hiker but personally this trail was not that easy but also not too hard. I highly recommend this one as the waterfall was just so amazing and magnificent!! Definitely worth it! I’d love to come back to this one someday. Please watch out for bikers - Just be careful and make sure to give way for them when you go on the way to the car park before getting the point of waterfall trails, there was some bikers on the trail which was for Helix Mountain Biking Trail.

Fantastic easy walk through the forest to this quaint waterfall! The last bits of the walk can be quite tiring, but nothing out of the ordinary. P.S: We struggled to find this place and the Google maps wasn't all that helpful. You'd take the Jollies Pass Rd, and turn left right after Apline Holiday Apartments (before you get to the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp).

What a walk. It says 3 hour round trip took us about 4 and we aren't that fit. Allow 5hrs just in case. About 4kms round trip, felt like 100km. Lots of wasps and midges at the moment so take bug repellent and antihistamines. But we never felt unsafe. Track was well kept but soo steep. 2 water crossings so waterproof shoes are helpful. What I expected of a NZ bush walk. Beautiful. Not much in the way of views over the valley or town. Go to Conical Hill for that. Definitely recommend. Waterfall was like...
