During my visit on 27 Dec 2020 (yes it snowed the night before), the lupin flowers at left side of the road (on the way to Mt John Observatory) were barely seen. It seemed that someone sprayed herbicide and caused most of the lupins to have died off. The right side of the road (Mt John side) still has some lupin flowers. However, they are not really a 'sea' of lupin flowers. I would recommend the sea of lupin at SH8 near Lake...
