During my visit on 27 Dec 2020 (yes it snowed the night before), the lupin flowers at left side of the road (on the way to Mt John Observatory) were barely seen. It seemed that someone sprayed herbicide and caused most of the lupins to have died off. The right side of the road (Mt John side) still has some lupin flowers. However, they are not really a 'sea' of lupin flowers. I would recommend the sea of lupin at SH8 near Lake Tekapo township.

Best place to find Lupins if there is none at the lake! There is a little parking you stop on the side and jump over a fence. A few bees around, but you get everything you need - view, quiet and Lupins :)

Très mignon, les fleurs sont à voir de début novembre à début décembre. Ce n’est pas un champ complet mais quelques parties seulement. Cela n’empêche que c’est très joli, un immanquable si vous adorez les photos Instagrammables
