21 February 2025, partly sunny, 16C/58F 5.3 miles/8.5km 1142ft/348M gain 3 hours round trip with lots of exploring. Plenty of parking, start the track clockwise. The 2nd bridge is destroyed but an easy crossing with low water.

Check out the falls after you walk through the slot canyon. It’s a narrow wet trail down to the creek bed but well worth it. You can get up to the falls if you have sandals and do not mind getting your legs wet.

Beautiful walk through native beech forest. Follow a river up the mountain through historic gold mining areas up to Sam Summers hut which you can still stay in (if you were desperate).. You can also continue across the Queenstown-Glenorchy road down to 12 Mile Delta - where 12 Mile Creek empties into lake Wakatipu....

The steepest part of the track was the part from the carpark to the road. I decided not to risk attempting to cross the stream and turned back, but it was still super enjoyable. Lots of birds, I...
