Volunteers have done a fantastic job of layering plants, utilising some existing bush and expanding it. They’ve created pathways that are interesting and show off the natural scenery. There’s creative sculptures doubling as habitats and my first close encounter with Takahe. The long Guided tour was an exclusive long talk with one of the volunteers whose passion for the sanctuary project and keen interest in Botany and Ferns in particular made for a great narrative and made us feel like we had made a new friend. be sure to book ahead if you’re keen to get the most out of your visit. Totally something for all the family to do , and who knows you might be one of the lucky ones to see one of...
