Paparoa National Park — Attraction in South Island

Der Paparoa Nationalpark und die Pancake Rocks Die Pancake Rocks sind eine Felsformation im Paparoa-Nationalpark nur etwa 60 Kilometer südlich von Westport und so brauchen wir keine Stunde von Cape Foulwind bis zum Informationszentrum des Paparoa National Park. Direkt gegenüber befindet sich der Eingangsbereich zu den Pancake Rocks.

Bei meinem letzten Besuch vor 25 Jahren sah das alles anders aus, es gab kein Infocenter und keinen wunderbar ausgebauten Rundwanderweg durch diese übereinander geschichteten Pfannkuchen. Ja so sehen sie wirklich aus und sie sind sehenswert damals wie heute.

Vor allem bei Flut und hohem Wellengang, dann bricht sich die Brandung an den zahlreichen Felsnasen, in Höhlen und Ausspülungen und drückt zurückfließendes Wasser und durchströmende Luft durch enge Löcher und Röhren im Felsen.
