I couldn't possibly say enough good things about this company but here it goes!
We had a skydive booked in Franz Josef but we couldn't go due to the weather so we rebooked for Abel Tasman.. terrified is not the word I could use to describe how I felt those 4 days before my skydive and I was praying for bad weather on the morning of my jump so that it would be cancelled and I could chicken out for good. Well, that is not what happened at all! I woke up to blue skies and sunshine and knew that the day had finally come when I was going to jump out of an airplane (WHAT?!)
When we arrived in Skydive Abel Tasman we were greeted with two lovely lovely people on the front desk (Ben and Jo I think there names are? My brain is a blur after the intensity of all the fear emotions). They were SO NICE and made me feel more at ease about the crazy thing that I was about to do. We had a short wait from arriving to putting on our super stylish jumpsuits and getting harnessed up. I was super scared at this stage and really was considering backing out. My tandem master was Will and he was so chilled out and answered any (ridiculous) questions I had. I say ridiculous because they were so irrational and just -never going to happen- situations that I'm laughing at myself now đ
The ride in the plane was great for the first 2 minutes and then everyone starts talking about reaching altitude and 2 minutes to jumping. Can't describe how terrified I was but the whole team are just so cool and chilled that I really trusted them all fully with my life!
I'm not really sure what happened when we jumped out of the plane, I'm pretty sure I closed my eyes for the first 5 seconds but then WOW when I opened them we were flying! I got the external cameraman and he was so good at coming super close for the photos and videos
I'm not sure if I was the most scared person in the world doing a skydive (felt like I was) but if you're reading this and you think you can't do it, YOU DEFINITELY CAN! And the feelings you get before/during and after are all so worth it
So THANK YOU Skydive Abel Tasman for giving me and my partner the experience of a lifetime, and for safely bringing us back down to...
Read moreSkydive Abel Tasman was the best experience! The team was so lovely. They were very communicative about the weather and my reservation. I was in Nelson and Allie actually helped arrange a pick up for me, even though it's not even a service that's part of the sky dive. I went Tandem with Anthony, who was so friendly and chill. I felt super safe and comfortable the whole time. Everything was smooth and seamless and I enjoyed every second of my time from pick up to drop off, I could not have imagined a better experience.
A lot of people choose Queenstown because it's the "adventure capital of New Zealand." But I had a friend recommend Abel Tasman because it is at the top of the South Island and on a clear day you can see as far as Mt. Taranaki on the North Island they say! (The North Island was cloudy the day I jumped unfortunately.) But the view of the ocean and the National Park were still absolutely unbelievable. I did a 16,500ft jump, and I'm so glad I did. You'll never experience anything else like it in your life. It's genuinely indescribable. As close as a human can get to flying.
I'm so appreciative of the whole team for working so hard every day to provide this opportunity to people just to walk in and fall out of a plane.
When I went a Nan had her whole family there to celebrate her birthday! Almost anyone and everyone can and should go skydiving, and you should go to Skydive Abel...
Read moreI may not be original but anyway : IT WAS JUST CRAZY ! The crew is exceptional, they put you in a chill and really happy vibe talking to you and explaining all the steps.. our tandem were Rod and Riki : the best !! Thanks a lot both of you ! you were just perfect and we were pretty surprised not to feel the fear actually... sure we were a bit stressed but it disappeared really fast as you got on the plane and go up in the sky, thanks to the tandem masters ! The camera flyer Taylor was as cool as the tandems : besides his communicative smile, he made us a really cool video and crazy photos ! The drop off was just one of the best moments of our trip and our life ! The freefall is kind of quick so I really recommend the biggest jump (5km) to enjoy the thing as much as possible ! Thanks as well to the two guys who prepared us for the jump (Ben and.. I donât remember !), David for the mails and the explanations and all the crew in general ! You made our day and put a crazy souvenir of our world tour in our head ! I hope Iâll be able to continue to jump in Europe, the first thing I said to Rod when the parachute opens was : you are really making that for a living.. I want to do that as well haha ! See...
