Back Beach — Attraction in Taranaki

Area highly contaminated and polluted. Dow Plant nearby (recently demolished&still highly polluted land) who manufactured Agent Orange and other chemicals are responsible. This was there dumping ground. Just leaving this here for those from in or out of town who don’t know. It may look like a beautiful surf beach but this whole area has caused decades of cancers for those who grew up around the area, I still hear of people in the area who can’t even grow in there gardens due to...

A very nice beach with some amazing views of local nature. Not a good place for swimming since the waves can be quite aggresive so make sure you are proficient in wave and tide knowdeledge. Beach itself has nice sand and great view of the cliffs. There is a staircase next to the carpark to acces the beach. Also a large sand hill you can climb and descent if you are feeling adventurous.
