Lake Rotokare — Attraction in Taranaki

The scenic walk around the lake is a delight for your eyes. (also educational) . I have taken many visitors to the area and all are very impressed. The ridge walk offers amazing view of mount Egmont/Taranaki looking one way, look toward the centre of the island you are able to see mounts Tongariro Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe then look directly in front to see the inland terrain and the lake. So picturesque and if you take that walk at sunset very romantic. I have water skied at the lake, taken kids groups to do fun actives. Took us about 2.5 hours to finish the lake loop walk with a 3 year old and a 6 year old. An easy walk although I imagine if it's been raining it would be quite muddy so wear appropriate footwear. The pontoon area is a nice distance to take young kids for a walk and there was also room for camping in camper trucks. There are toilets. Best for a hot summer day in the shade...

Absolutely magical!!! The double security gate is a neat entrance to experience and shows how serious this reserve is about keeping unwanted pests out!
