Scenic Lakeside Walk, Even on a Windy Day! Despite a blustery day, the Rangatira Point Walking Track offered a surprisingly enjoyable experience. The strong winds whipped across Lake Taupo, creating dramatic, almost ocean-like waves – a unique and captivating sight! What made the walk particularly pleasant was the natural shelter provided by the trees lining the track. They offered a welcome respite from the wind, allowing us to comfortably enjoy the stunning views of the lake and surrounding landscape. The trail itself was well-maintained and easy to follow, making it accessible even in less-than-ideal weather. The contrast between the wild, windswept lake and the calm shelter of the track made for a memorable walk. Definitely worth exploring, even if the weather isn't perfect, for a different perspective of Lake...

really nice walk through the bush along the lake front. you end up at a nice swimming spot which is safe for kids as it has a breakwater area to swim in and dock boats. there's a large cave along the pathway too, which you can explore the walls and roof to find interesting insects. there were several other people using this track and everyone was friendly and...

Cool walking track at the very end of acacia bay road. You wind down through the trees and pop out by the lake side. There are plenty of quiet bays to set up for a picnic, almost guaranteed to find one to yourself. If you continue on the track right to the end there are large flat rocks, perfect for jumping into the lake - in the...

A great walk by the lake, it is mostly covered in bush so nice and cool even on a hot day. And ideal place to take the dog for some exercise. The path is somewhat unkept in some areas, so anybody with mobility issues may wish to stay away. However, it is nice having the natural walkway to amble through the bush with.
