It's definitely a must visit place while you are in Estelí. It lies on a well paved road to Estanzuela, the entrance is a little obscure and often without personnel, you just open the gate and go down, you will meet some locals eventually who will charge you 20C per person. The waterfalls itself can appear dirty because of its muddy water but you can safely submerge in the water. There is some trash around the area though. I recommend to combine with a visit to Finca Jalacate. The bus from Estelí doesn't go every day! Beware of that, exactly schedule is unknown to me but Wednesdays there is no bus, so you have to hitchike with locals...
Read moreBeautiful place to visit. Parking at the top of the trial or you can drive down with suitable 4 wheel drive, but limited space at the bottom. Cost is $25 Cordoba (less than a buck)/person paid at the gate.
We had difficulty finding the place but eventually guessed the gate was the entrance. It is around 15 minutes to walk down...not too bad. But 20 or longer to trudge up the steep parts of the trail. My legs hurt for a bit.
