What experience!!! Soo cool, watch the sunset, and look at Magma!!! We went at 4 perfect timing before all the crazy line up! 10usd to enter after 430 for the sunset. And night visuals of the volcano Masaya.
I'm going to tell you, get there at 4pm with your rental car, wait in line until 430 open pay the 10usd per person my daughter who was 6 was free. Hit it up the Museum get the information about the Giant volcano, last huge major eruption I think he said 3,000 years ago, and last lava flow was 1970's.There is a "bat" cave inside the museum with real bats!! Back in 1550's the Spaniards came put up a cross thinking it was the gates to hell.
The aboriginals, prior to that thought, there was a magic Hag who used to live there and told the tribes to sacrifice their maidens and children (of course)
Such a cool experience for our family!
A must...

I'm not sure there are too many places like that on earth, and it is just a short drive from Managua. For 100 cordobas per person you also get access to the museum and Mirador (lookout) which is quite nice as well. Unfortunately several of the more impressive trails off the main parking lot at the crater are closed due to dangerous levels of volcanic activity, but hopefully they will be reopened during low levels. Enjoy and take...

It's not very big, but it is very much worth going to see. It's on the way to the volcano which is just another couple of miles up the road.
If you go during the day, it doesn't cost hardly anything. If you go at night, it costs a little more but still very reasonable. And it night time, you can see the volcano glowing red...
