Cristo de La Misericordia — Attraction in San Juan del Sur (Municipio)

This view point is one of the main tourist attractions in the town of San Juan Del Sur.

The entrance to the hill is situated all the way to the right side of the beach. I was advised by some travellers that it is not safe to visit here alone or at evening but I never felt that it was dangerous during my walk to the entrance and/or the hike to the top.

The hill is very steep but it doesn’t take too long to get to the top. You need to pay a small fee to a guard to access the view point.

Once you get to the top, you can see the entire bay of SJDS. You can also see the southern part of the town such as Playa Maderas from here also.

This had the best view in San Juan! We started our journey from the beach and followed a small set of stairs off the beach that took us to the road. From there we walked up the main road to the point a security guard was manning a gate for cars. I would recommend getting a ride to this point as the road is the steepest road I’ve ever been on, so it’s not ideal to walk up. Last day here and was thinking we didn’t need to visit this landmark, we’ve had sick family members so we decided to make the effort and we were glad we did! This is a spectacular location that boasts incredible views of the town and the coast north of town. I recommend you visit at sunset!
