Standing tall and proud in the heart of Uyo is a structure that symbolizes vision, excellence, and ambition—the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. Formerly known as the Uyo Township Stadium, this architectural marvel has not only transformed the skyline of Akwa Ibom’s capital but has also redefined sports infrastructure in Nigeria.
Often referred to as “The Nest of Champions,” the stadium is currently Nigeria’s best—both in design and functionality. With a seating capacity of 30,000, it effortlessly combines aesthetics with purpose, boasting world-class facilities that rival those of top stadiums across Africa.

The stadium is built for performance, with top-tier amenities including VIP lounges, media centers, a digital scoreboard, and floodlights that make night games feel like international showcases.
It is the official home of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, and rightly so. Here, national pride meets sporting excellence. The pitch is lush and well-maintained, the acoustics enhance crowd energy, and the seating arrangement ensures a clear view from every angle.
Beyond football, the stadium serves as a multipurpose venue, hosting everything from athletics to major state events, concerts, and national celebrations. It’s a hub of unity, drawing people from all walks of life together in moments of shared emotion—victory, loss, and celebration.
