Apapa Amusement Park — Attraction in Lagos State

It's sad to go to place that have lots to offer,and maintainace culture is lacking! I was at the amusement park perhaps 3 or more years ago with friends, and it was an exciting experience. Then I heard it had shut down?And was under renovation?

But, this year I heard it was open again. So as i wanted to do an outing with a couple of friends I encouraged them for us to go there to see.when I got there last week after hearing it was open again.

I was disappointed. Besides, the fact that the ride prices had gone up. That I understand. And great to see that a kind of computerised card payment system was now in place attached. Although, I didn't like the info given that we HAD TO load the card with a COMPULSORY amount? No concrete explanation given? That is not good enough BRAND Messaging or identity! You leave the customers profile group we call inquisitive and educated wondering!Why?

There were customer service details missing and the place looked unkempt and badly housekeeping wise maintained. Right from the entrance for a place just supposed to be renovated? Except i got the wrong info or image?

The whole place needs painting and washing! And their staff need to undergo some training on customer service, etiquette and communication skills.

If all of these and likely more, are addressed as i didn't go in eventually to see. Such that I could then give an assessment here. Then it will be a worthwhile place to spend some leisure time alone or with others.

So this is encouraging the management of @amusementpark APAPA, to consider addressing these details to attract more patronage and return guest!

Your everyday "HAT"...

The staff at the ticketing cubicle are dubious, I was there on boxing Day(26/12/2019) with my family, I knew fully well the unit on my card wasn't exhausted from my previous visit and I was told my card was flat by the female staff, I wanted to load 15k via POS but she told the machine wasn't working and advise I use the ATM machine, I gave her 6k cash which she loaded on my card then immediately I went to the ATM machine which didn't dispense at that time, I went back to her to complain about the ATM machine, challenged her on why she's not trying to use the POS..., she attended to the man behind me swiftly telling him to make use of the ATM machine. She collected the card I just loaded with 6k and told me I only had 1k left on, forgetting I was the one that just loaded, OMG!!! I challenged her immediately and she claimed it was a system error, she requested for my ATM card and I loaded an additional 5k on it via POS and it went through, she printed out the receipt of 11k for me out of guilt, she only collected cash from those after me... I'm sure I had over 2k on the card previously wc she would have stolen and she was ready to steal my 5k thereafter, I can't image how much she would have stolen from people, For those who are sure they have units left on their cards, I suggest you go inside with it, use the card to have an idea of you balance before you load in the ticketing cubicle inside. The ticketing staff outside are thieves. And to the management I suggest you provide a screen for clients to view their balance when the card is inserted by your staff. Aside the sharp practices, we had I nice time...

This place is waaaaaaay underrated. Throw in a little crowd, some organisation and publicity and you will have one hell of tourist and fun centre. The biggest problem is that it is sparsely filled. I went there on a Saturday and the first impression when I got in was that I was in the wrong place. The rides were there but very few people so that fun vibe was not there.

The customer service was also poor as twice, we had to look for the person that would receive payment and start the ride. But once that is clear, the place is cheap! Rides range from 500 to 1500 naira. Once you get your lifetime card for 1000 naira, you just fill your card with money and you can top up as many times as you like.

If you are daring and up for a lot of adventure, the pirate ship ride is for you. The next best ride is the yellow and blue bike in the picture that takes you high up in the air and swings you up high in any direction. You will scream, trust me. All the other rides are good too but no rush of adrenaline or anything. They are slow and easy if you are into those.

One last thing, don't go alone. Apapa Amusement Park is best enjoyed in a group. You'll need someone to share that scream with😉
