Very fun place! Now that I have that out of the way, let's get into more details.
Although it was a long trip for us from where we lived, we were excitement about all the wonderful things the place held in store for us. On the way there, the thing that didn't sit right with me was the sharp T-off to the road that leads to the park. It's a really sharp Tee both on the map and in real life so please take it seriously. It is important as most motorists that ply that route are on a journey and in a hurry too. Usually, the average speed on that road is about 80-120km/h so to branch off safely, you would need ample time to slow down not just for yourself, but also to allow the motorist behind you to safely change lane. This can result in an accident if not done well. The mascot of the park which is a blue elephant, can help you identify the exact T-off, after you have passed the MFM camp site on the other side of the road. Now that you have successfully completed that step let's go on.
The road that leads to the park was unpaved and not tarred. It is undulating with gravel fillings. We went there during the harmattan season so was really dusty. I expect it would be better in the rainy seasons or worse as I didn't identify any major drainage. Upon arriving at the gates, I inquired about parking but to my utter surprise, we had to park outside the park which I assume would be at owners risk. I didn't like it one bit, I thought they would have proper parking arrangements. Personally, I would be happy to pay for VIP parking and hopefully it might happen in the future. This is the reason for my 4stars review considering they charge N5,000 (14usd @2020) park access fee. Other who charge far less like N200/hr (0.75usd/hr @2020) provide this service.
Upon reaching the gate, they had a scan machine and security who frisk people. I felt secure knowing that they had this in place. We went to the ticketing office just after the clinic. Seeing the clinic also reassured me that they might be ready to offer some kind of first aid treatment should a customer sustain an injury or if any of their lodgers develop an ailment. Lodgers? Yes they have an accommodation service for those who can't go home that day. But again, the rates are not very competitive (maybe better in the future). The accommodation was from a single bedroom to about 5 bedrooms or so. I didn't visit any of the rooms, but I hope to do so next time. At the ticketing office, we had the option of buying the Hip regular, Hip flex or Hip Jumbo tickets which offered an increasing stack of free rides. The most purchased was the Hip flex (N15,000 / 180usd) per person except for kids 2years and under that go in free. Everyone gets a wristband that shows the category of rides you can get for free and at an unlimited number of times too. Away with all the administratives now the fun is starting.
The rides were a lot of fun both for adults and kids. On the way in or out you get to see the huge King Kong like Gorilla in front of some bamboo trees all artificial and some other animated life like tree, bush/tribesmen, and lions. All these make for a fantastic picture spot and I didn't spare the moment. Moving on you see different buildings with the names of the games on them. I will mention a few in no particular order namely the indoor games house 1 and 2 which had shooting games, dancing, biking, car racing etc. There is also a 5D experience room which is also very intense as well. The haunted house which teams can play etags against one another, the skating rink which had an artificial skating rink that served just fine.
There is also the ferris wheel usually the biggest ride one can see there. It also gives you an opportunity to take a picture of the entire park from that elevation. You can also see the go-cart area with an extensive racing track and times to beat for the adrenaline junkies like me. The kids have a smaller go-cart area which isn't too competitive and a bumper car area too (be careful with the electrics) for all ages. No more space I must...
Read moreWe had a family timeout at hi-impact planet on friday 27th, December 2024. And our experience was below par. We paid a total of ₦75,000 for a family of 7 for the entrance fee.(Although my fee and my wife's was the highest;₦16,000 each and entrance is free for our baby) When we got in,the children wanted to ride the rollercoaster but we were disappointed when we were told their fee does not cover that(mind you,we paid almost ₦11,000 for them each o)... Their fee only covers arcade games only(table tennis, virtual car race, small slide, ball shooting and football) haba. We were more disappointed when we were told we have to pay again for all of the games inside the premises...which to us does not make any sense. I noticed most of the games they charge people for are almost out of functionality.
My advise:- (1) Hi impact should try and revive all non functional games in their premises (2)I believe using coins for any games you want to use will be better than charging extra from people after paying an entrance fee (for instance, after paying ₦16,000,we should be given like 6 coins to use for any outdoor games we want, and if we need to use any other,we can purchase coins to use it) (3) There should not be any restriction on using any of the games in the premises as there is presently. I noticed the non usage of most of the games inside the premises because of payment of an extra fee has made most of them look unkept,old,non-functional and also deprived the fun that should come with visiting an amusement park.(Infact hi-impact can make a lot of money by allowing people to use coins for any outdoor games of their choice, and when the coin finishes one can purchase more to continue the fun. (4)The road leading to the place from the express should be tarred for easy access (5)The air-conditioning inside the first arcade should be fixed, the place is too hot(or in the interim,a heat extractor should be installed)
Verdict: The only thing we did enjoy as partners indoor was the table tennis game i played with my wife.(Which was what we normally do on norms) Overall, our expectations were not met,we had to leave after spending less than 3 hours. Its a case of what you see is not what you get.
Would we visit again:- NO
Unless reforms are done to make the place lively and fun to be. And please don't let nigeria happen to...
