Lovely to return to this place many years after my first ever visit. On my last visit I was in a hurry somewhat so didn't really soak in the exhibition; this time, I had more time on my hands, and so lingered for much longer.
The staff (I met two at the time of my visit) are still as dedicated as you would find in all state-owned museums nationwide, even if conditions within the galleries remain horrid.
As they walked me round, sharing their knowledge about Oron society, one display at a time, I could only salute their spirit and diligence.
The roofing in leaking and there's rainwater in the middle of the main gallery, with buckets placed on the floor to collect them.
The gallery was poorly illuminated -- truth is, I didn't expect there to be light, or even a backup generator.
While the museum has remain largely as it was back then, I notice some changes in the immediate vicinity of the facility: the Marina Road is busier than when I was last there, and there's more activities around the Oron River

Together with a few of my colleagues (Auntie Margaret, Mr. Emetui, Mr. Nsikan and Auntie Goodnews) and more than 70 students of University Arms Education Foundation, Uyo, we visited this historical site where we got to see and learn firsthand, events in the past as regards our culture and country.
It was about an hour drive (I think mainly because of the bright weather and good roads) from and back to Uyo; and the journey all through was fun.
