Wildlife Park, Jos is situated on an extensive area of land along Tudun Wada, Jos. It is replete with verdant lawns, tall pine trees, amongst others, and engaging recreational activities for adults, couples, and kids alike. A token entrance fee is required to gain access to the multiplicity of entertainment afforded by the Park.

One interesting feature of the Wildlife Park is the Museum. The museum banks a tonne of vital information on the history of the park, and animals within the park. It also is a repository of well-preserved animals, as well as their parts. These include but are not limited to: antelopes, lion, lioness, reptiles, arachnids, zebra, etc. The curator did an excellent job walking us through the backstory of all the animals within the museum, and the preservation technique(s) used for each segment.

The attendants at the park are quite judicious in the execution of their tasks. However, a lot more effort should be put into ensuring the sanitary measures are being strictly adhered to, and that attendees do not feed the animals without due guidance from the zoo keeper(s). Lawns within the park are overgrown and pose to be an ideal habitat for seemingly creeping creatures.

While I was at the park, I observed that there was no designated parking spot(s) and that attendees were at liberty to park just about wherever they deemed fit. The same also applies to urination.

Some of the facilities –such as the swimming pool area, and its environs– were dilapidated, cages derelict (others, empty), and some of the animals seemed to be malnourished. Sadly, on the day of visitation, I was informed that the lioness had passed on a few days earlier. A replacement would do the park a lot more good by way of traffic.

As far as refreshment goes, the options are slim. Given the weather condition on the day of the visit, I was disappointed to find out that there were no cold drinks on sale.

I strongly believe with adequate funding from philanthropists and/or the government, the Wildlife Park, Jos could be revamped to be one of the major tourist attractions within the...

I am giving this a 4 rating because of the aura of tranquility I felt around there. When I consider the structure and the condition and number of the animals there, I'll give this rating a 1.

I have been to the wildlife park a couple of times in the past many years ago. So, I looked forward to this one, not because I was expecting to see something spectacularly different from what I had seen before there (also thanks to more current reviews I had read also). But because going there leaves me with a certain experience that is sometimes difficult for me to articulate in words.

There is something about the aura there. People who have visited will understand what I am saying. There is this pervading and overwhelming calmness, serenity, and peace I feel there. When I gave myself a time limit of spending 2 hrs there, I didn't realize I'd end up spending 4 hrs.

I got to see some animals again and take fresh pictures. I fed the elephant some chinchin, and she seemed to like the snack.

Getting to the wildlife park was pretty easy. The entry fee is 200 naira, which I found to be exciting 😀 and surprising at the same time.

It is good to know that the present government is making concerted efforts to revamp the place. I hear the park has already been fenced all through, which I found to...

The park is quite adventurous with different nature sightseeing and animals of different kinds, the chimpanzees and the elephant there will give you an enjoyable moment as chimpanzees respond to tourist request for them to dance in order to receive gifts from tourists, and the elephant endless display of excitement seeing people around. There are natural tree canopy that is used for events and great for people to relax. The security here is not great, though there is a military check point opposite the park but people are not well checked in, this requires that when visiting you want to watch out for clumsy and crowded areas for security reasons. There was no tour guard too to guide and tell tourists about life at the park. The recreational point where there are swings and sliders too need some more attention, but the art shop is really beautiful and fascinating with a good artist in-store. Overall I will give the park 4/10, yet it is still one of the place to visit if you are visiting Jos.

Gate fee is N200 (adult), N100 (Children), and there is accommodation to go in with your car for your tour at (N50). Massa (baked rice flour) is definitely a local food you want to try out at the park. Yeah, I enjoyed...
