Omo, if you love it, you love it. The University of Port-Harcourt is a good school. You can hear the lecturers' passion in their lectures.
However, the environment needs improvement. The classrooms aren't very conducive for studying; the fans are often squeaky or not working at all, making it hard to concentrate, especially during hot weather. The buildings are quite old, and it seems like there's no plan for repainting or renovating them. Some pathways become swampy during the rainy season, making it difficult for students to navigate the campus.
Aside from the physical improvements the school really needs, it should also be in line with other universities. I get it; it's a federal university and can be slow at times, but they should stick to their academic calendar instead of pushing things around. It feels unprofessional, and it really affects students.
And then there’s the staff. Unfortunately, many of them can be quite rude. It’s funny because while the staff offices are air-conditioned or have fans, the students are stuck in classrooms with squeaky fans that barely work. In my building, it’s almost like a game to find a fan that actually operates without making noise like it’s about to fall apart.
The school really needs to embrace contemporary practices too. Most universities upload student results online, so you don’t have to go to the faculty office just to check your grades, but here, we have to get our results, and it doesn't make any sense considering the school has a school portal.
Overall, while the academic experience is great, other aspects need lots...
