National park „Pelister“ — Attraction in Municipality of Bitola

Pelister has got to be the best national forest in Macedonia. The fresh air, the greenery, the peace, the quiet.... Such a nice place that is so close to the city centre. I have been here many times and remember it from young, going on picnics and walks with family and friends. I most recently went back in 2019 and had the chance to go for a bit of a hike aswell. As great as it is, it's sad to see that it's not really maintained too well and you can tell that some things need attention. The trails need to be marked a lot better, some of the bushes need to be trimmed down, the road leading up is just getting worse and the hotel there is definitely not at a adequate quality especially not what you pay for. Regardless, I would still recommend that if anyone is near Pelister or in Bitola to go...

Pelister National Park is a national park in the Municipality of Bitola, Republic of Macedonia. The park is located in the Baba Mountain massif and covers an area of 171.5 square kilometres (66.2 sq mi). The altitude of the park varies between 927 and 2,601 m (3,041 and 8,533 ft) above sea level and is filled with exquisite flora and fauna. Among flora elements, the presence is especially significant of the five-needle pine molica, Pinus peuce - a unique species of Cenozoic age being present on only a few mountains in the Balkan Peninsula. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by the diverse wildlife: bears, roe deer, wolves, chamois, deer, wild boars, rabbits, several species of eagles, partridges, red-billed choughs, and the endemic Macedonian...

I had wonderful experiance here. Pelister is a national Park that you must visit when you visit Macedonia. It is home of a endemic tree caled "Molica" . I recomend to take a walk in the wood and enjoy in green view and fresh air. Also if you have time, strenght and equipment, I recomend to visit the lake called "Pelisterski oci". You can drive with car to hotel "Molika" where you can drink coffee or eat something(altought I don't recomend this hotel for eating, you can eat in the hotels and restaurants half way from city Bitola to hotel "Molika", for example "Sumski feneri" ).
