Hotel Europa was both thrilling and eerie. While some areas were still fairly intact and explorable, others showed significant signs of damage and decay. There was a lot of glass everywhere, and in some of the more significantly fire damaged areas it felt possible that the floor could fall through, further. It was clear in my opinion that the abandoned hotel was not a suitable place for children, as seen in a previous review (no judgements… but…………). Arriving at sunrise added to the beauty of the experience, allowing us to hear the sounds of nature surrounding us as we wandered through the abandoned buildings. My favourite areas were the old bowling alley and the spooky elevator shafts. We were the only ones there, adding to the sense of isolation and mystery. There are a couple of buildings and it looks kind of similar when you’re exploring, like a maze, so check on google satellite if you need to. Renting a car from Rent a Car Pegasus in Ohrid made accessing the place easier, as it’s not easily accessible by public transport at all. But I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to explore this unique urbex location arriving by car or scooter. This is also a cool spot for photo shoot, street art or music video making.
