This stave church looked unique, and we drove an hour out of our way to see it during their posted hours only to find the main office closed. When I opened the door to the church to find an employee, a lady (in the standard stave church shirt) yelled a lot of stuff in Norwegian and motioned for us to leave. Not a welcoming experience... but it is a cool building from...

Visiting this stave church was incredible - I had no idea the history nor had I heard of them before. Our tour stopped for a brief visit and the local guide shared so much fascinating history. It was WELL worth the stop and I highly recommend, especially with a guide. To think this gem could have been torn down as “parts” for the new church...

One of the oldest stavechurches, and one of the only existing using the Borgund style. Only the main ship is preserved, but it is stunning, and well worth the 5 min drive off the main road. Tip: spend a few bucks pn a guide, it's a very interesting story, and you support the preservation...

Beautiful old stave church. Easely accessable parking at the other side of the road. Appearantly one of the last original stave churches kept as it was all those years ago. We paid to see inside and got some very good explanation from the guide! Would reccomend to stop here to see something unique!
