Hiked during a cruise holiday, DO NOT PAY FOR P&O EXCURSION. We paid £22 for a taxi from Alasund centre to the start of the trail, (Taxi driver very helpful and knew exactly where to go) Then we walked back (about 3-4km) P&O Charged £58 each for the excursion! The trek is nice, some harder bits but fine for a novice, I'd say Walking boots a must as Rocky and easy to jar an ankle. Views from the top as you can see from our pictures weren't great as cloud covered the peak but views on the way we're great.

On the way back down we passed the 1pm P&O excursion group. Poor buggers were like a 50 person long centipede. Definatly do this on your own at your own pace it's far more peaceful and...

Absolutely wonderful view 😍 It takes 1.5-2 hours (down to top and return). Remember it's easy for Norwegian or other people who live in similar terrain, for people without experience in trekking it's NOT easy walk. There are a lot of stones (may be slippery) and mud during rain or after rain. Take good shoes, comfy clothes, water and some snacks and go to the top carefully, the view is worth of your effort. The path is a little bit hidden and not very easy to find. To get it, find sign Sukkertoppen (on Google maps it's called Sukkerstopen tursti) between houses located close to the school, where you can leave you car (when school is closed) unfortunatelly there is no other...

Do you like gorgeous views? Are you mildly in-shape? Will you get vertigo from sharp drop-offs?

Then I have the hike for you! An easy pace of careful steps and this is a climb tolerable by even those who prefer beer and chips to water and salads. It’ll take a while but there are plenty of stopping points with great views.

But when you get to the top… just wow.

So put on your hiking boots and a shirt you don’t mind getting dirty and get up there. You...

Excellent hike. Some of the best views in Norway and not too hard. Quite short if you take the south western path. Wouldn’t advise the more eastern starting route as quite steep in places and slippery if it’s been raining. Quite a few people stop when they think they reach the top - keep going. It’s worth it.
