On the hiking trip to Brekkefossen waterfall you will have a grand view of the fjord and into the valley.

Explore the area and enjoy beautiful views of Flåm!  Start the walk from Flåm town centre on an asphalt road up the valley alongside the Flåm river. After a gentle 1,5 km walk, we continue up the mountain side on our way to the Brekke Waterfall. The rocky and steep trail quickly gains elevation and soon the small village of Flåm is visible through the trees. After about 30 minutes of uphill hiking, the trail opens up on a grassy ledge, offering beautiful views of the area. Join us on this hike to get a unique insight to the local culture, history and life by the fjord!  WHAT TO EXPECT:  - A personal guided experience, packed with history, stories and local knowledge.  - Hike, like the locals do, up to a waterfall with a view over Flåm and the fjord.  - Learn the history of the area between mountains and fjords.  WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:  Good hiking shoes and outdoor clothing.  Water bottle.  This hike is a total of 5 km in length (return to Flåm center). Total climb in elevation about 155 m.  No hiking experience needed, but medium fitness level required to complete the hike up to...

We absolutely LOVED this hike. Go early in the morning if you can. We went around 8am and were the only ones there until the very end! It was so peaceful!! The trailhead and Trail are well marked. There are many steps made from very well organized and maintained rock. I was so impressed how well maintained everything was. We went past the clearing on the right at the base of the falls when we were going up because we thought maybe there was a way to get to the very top of the falls. Maybe there is, but after about 15 minutes of hiking we turned around because we weren’t sure and we were told that that trail continues on for 15 km. So when we turned back around and went down to the clearing there was a cool secondary spot about halfway up the falls that you could get a unique view. But once we went down to the bottom where the clearing was you can see the entire cove of Flåm and you get an amazing view of the waterfall!! You can see the River quite a ways south, and you see a magnificent view of the Fjords. I’ve been on a lot of hikes but this ranks in the top three hikes I’ve ever done in whole life! It is totally worth the 20 to 40 minute climb depending on how...

Very pretty waterfall. Lots of people there talking pictures and selfies, needed to wait several minutes to clearly see the view without a load of people in the way. I've no problem with people posing for a picture or two, but we had a fairly rude cruise ship group talking dozens of pictures over a 10 minute period - just bad luck I know. Better to go on a day with no cruise ships in port, if such a thing ever happens.

The walk up and down again is not straightforward. It was warm the day we visited and several people bailed out on the walk up as it was steep and fairly unrelenting steps on the way up. Certainly have the legs and knees a...
