When I visited Flåm Church I went by train from Myrdal to Flam harbor. It's a very popular destination for cruise ships. A walk from Flam harbor to the church is highly recommended. You will walk through Flam valley for about 3 kilometers. Nature is breathtaking and you will see spectacular waterfalls on the mountains. Read moreFlam Kyrkje Church: The plaque says "Flam Kyrkje Byod 1667"! And I visited it in 2017, that is 350 years after it was built, that is three and a half centuries. I was kind of stunned by it. It is very old Church, and they say it is not open for most of the days. When I started my walk from Flam hostel, I was not sure if it will be open, it is almost 3.5 to 4 Km and it is a very simple walk. But on reaching there, I cound it open and I was glad. The inside is beautiful, it is old and has a mysterious aura around it.

Read moreBeautiful little church, around 2.2m (3.5km) from the centre of Flam. Very easy to find, signed, or just follow the road which runs parallel to the mountain railway line.
Very well cared for graveyard and church, free to enter (plus very clean toilets in an adjacent building).
Nice views of the vallay and the Bekkefossen waterfall on the way up and back.
No pavements when out of the village, but quite safe as...
