This was almost worth the entire trip to Norway! My daughter and I visited this Viking village last week. The reenactment experience was perfectly set up by our tour guide, Greg. As a student of ancient civilizations and of Norse mythology, Greg brought to life the culture, religion and daily life of the Norsemen of legend. The buildings' construction are accurate as are most everything we experienced there. We each were allowed to throw axes at huge wood targets, shoot arrows from a bow at stationary "game". After the tour we wandered about at our own pace exploring the village, interacting with the folks who were making articles necessary for daily living. A blacksmith and her apprentice, a candle maker, a cobbler, a young lady working a loom. There is a restaurant serving a variety of Norwegian food. (no mead) A great dining hall, a gift shop and very clean restrooms. I highly recommend this experience if you are a fanatic or have just a passing interest in Vikings. We saw young children with grandparents in tow so there is something for everyone. Don't miss the storyteller in the Jarl's home. We spent 3 hours walking about, interacting with people and taking photos. Don't rush through because this trip into the past is a wholesome fun for everyone experience.

It is an ok place but tbf it is not worth the admission price of 235Kr/ person for what you get. People who make money there by sitting and doing their Viking stuff didn't seem talkative at all, it was a hard work to get any kind of interaction or an eye contact ... axe throwing was throwing axe from the building supermarket not anything viking related, some people who should be reenactors wore modern clothing pieces, kids wore trainers? Lots of stalls were without any people just a display of an interior. . . I went there excited after following their amazing Instagram feed, left tottally disapointed. You can get more from going to the festivals and so on. At least you can get some good music there I almost felt like an invader, so did my partner who had to go separately as one of us had to mind the dog( dogs are not allowed inside to protect 5 chickens that are in the croft behind the fence). Gift shop massively overpriced filled with cheap stuff you can buy from AliExpress for £1...

As it’s my first Viking village experience and my knowledge about this period is limited by the Hollywood series and books on Northern mythology, I did not have any expectations. But kudos to those who build this place, who made all this replicas of weapons, boat, tools and buildings! The guided 45 min tour is really cool (of course we had luck with our guid, the guy made it informative but at the same time cool and funny), since we visited after main season is over, there were few inhabitants and the only active experience were shooting bow with arrows (unfortunately a big tour came and there was a line, we did not wanted to wait) and couple with musical instruments. So after the tour it’s not that much one can do there. But you can always check the souvenir shop and cafe there. Overall it’s a really interesting place to visit and the level of enthusiasm of the participants in impressive! Highly recommend.

If you are at Flam or Gudvangen then it's worth visiting Viking Valley. We reached here quite early and there was still ime for English guided tour, so we decided to explore it on our own. The people living here are permanant residents. They have either adopted Viking life style or they are descendents of Viking Era. They looked very peaceful community busy doing their own work. However they are very friendly with tourists. If you talk to them, they give give you a lot of informatin about their lifestyle. i tried hammer throwing and archery which are free to try. They make a lot of thing in traditional methods. Some of the handicrafts were excellent. One can also buy souvenirs made by them from museum. Gudvangen itself has got stunning views all around which makes the visit worthwhile. Try it...

We came trough the Viking Village in our journey and didn't expect much. We were just hungry and gave it a shot to visit the inside is the village. And honestly it was one of my absolute highlight of this holiday. The guides were so cool and helpful. We had a tour about all of the vikings traditions, handcrafts, fighting and so on. We had plenty of questions also due to several shows we saw and they were all answered professionally. The coolest thing was that we had the opportunity to fight with replica weapons (blunt steel weapons) and shields and were told different fighting styles and tactics. Worth every single penny! Thanks guys for this awesome adventure.

Amazing experience like no other through and through. The moment you park in front of the valley and look around you, you get hit with an incredible sense of being stuck in your childhood favourite fantasy movie by the unique scenery surrounding you from all the directions. In the valley you get to look at the authentic viking lifestyle, non hollywood romanticized history lessons and a gift shop of hand crafted viking items. If you're lucky, you'll catch the fair, where you can either buy hand crafted weapons or even a full armor for the daring ones. Hell, you can even get an authentic viking tattoo inside (for which I'm definitely coming back).
