I had a late flight that was supposed to land at 0100 but landed at 0200 and I paid the ridiculous taxi prices to get here. Surely, I had a fairly bad day but didn't write this review right away. Pros: I only talked to a few staff but they were very kind. Spoke great English for those who don't want to learn new languages. I also heard their encounters with guests while eating brkfst and it sounded very pleasant. Cons: value for the rooms. I got a private, but bc I'm bourgeois but it was the only thing available. No problem. No sheets? No linen? And it was for extra? Sure not the only place that does this, but why? I didn't shower after seeing the shower.... I just said forget it. I had a bunk bed. So I was back in college dorm atmosphere for 90 Euros. Bed was okay also reminded me a lot about the Army. Slept in the bottom bunk which was easy in and out right? But the window had a leak and come in the early wee hours of the morning it started raining (cool) and wind kicked in (not cool) It was freezing in the room. I used both comforters to sleep. Check out is 10 am.(Mixed feelings) Lots of self cleaning - like taking out your linen towel (cool) and taking away ur plates (nice) and wiping down the table (good) WiFi was good. I was in the Army so I should shut up and just trooper on. But I didn't pay for accommodation in the Army. Knowing what I known now, I would have saved the Taxi ride and Accompdation money - and I would have slept at the airport, train station, the streets, under an overpass (native Angeleno, US Army Veteran), persuade someone to let me couch surf, anything but. Brkfst is a standard one, nothing special. Coffee is forgetable. But an AMAZING VIEW. Would have been even better if it wasn't raining. Brkfst: I'd hate to be the dingdong that tells someone else how to do their job. But I'd like to teach you how to boil an egg. I don't say hate often but I hated it. I'm so depressed about this experience I want to walk down hill in the pouring rain just so I have real objective reasons to be upset.

I recently stayed at Bergen Hostel Montana for three nights and had a memorable experience. Here are my thoughts on the pros and cons of this hostel: #### Pros **1. Community Atmosphere**: The hostel fosters a wonderful sense of community. It was easy to meet fellow travelers and the common areas were vibrant with conversation and shared experiences. **2. Friendly Staff**: The workers at the hostel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure that guests felt welcome and comfortable. **3. Breakfast Variety**: The breakfast provided was impressive, with a good variety of options to choose from, including gluten-free choices. It was a great way to start each day. **4. Proximity to Hiking Paths**: One of the highlights is its location near the start of the hiking path to Mount Ulriken. For hiking enthusiasts, this is a major plus, as it allows for easy access to one of Bergenās most popular trails. **5. Amazing Views**: The views from the hostel are simply stunning. Whether it was morning or evening, looking out over the landscape was always a treat. **6. Free Food Concept**: The hostel offers a unique free food concept, where guests can share and exchange food. This not only helps reduce waste but also fosters a communal spirit. #### Cons **1. Distance from City Center**: The main drawback of Bergen Hostel Montana is its distance from the city center. It takes nearly 30 minutes to reach the center when you take bus number 12. This can be inconvenient for those who prefer to be closer to the main attractions and nightlife of Bergen. Overall, my stay at Bergen Hostel Montana was very positive. Despite the distance from the city center, the community atmosphere, friendly staff, and excellent amenities made it a great place to stay. I would highly recommend it, especially to travelers who enjoy hiking and appreciate a strong sense of community.

Awesome hostel at the top of a hill in Bergen, with a great vibe and amazing view of the city. Docking a star because felt a bit misled about the BBQ event they were hosting. Was told we could pay and āpick what we wantedā, so it sounded like a buffet type deal. Turns out it was just one plate that we got served. Asked about it and she tried to backpedal, saying she meant we could āpickā what we wanted from the meats. When I told her that didnāt happen, she just made up some excuse and didnāt seem to care much. All four of us heard what she said and we skipped dinner because we thought it would be AYCE, so definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. Already paid and ate so didnāt feel worth arguing. Paying for linens and having to make your own bed is also a bit weird but possibly standard for hostels in Norway? Otherwise a 10/10 hostel. Clean and large with great facilities and good breakfast.

Liked : Nice Location, giving a view of the city from the hilltop. The room was small, but very clean. There was free coffee and cookie time and there were youngster from different parts of world staying there. There is a bus stop and store very nearby. There is vending machine for water, coffee and you can order home made pizza from their kitchen. Disliked : The temperature control in the room didn't work, it was cold throught the night setting it even at 30deg celcius. We had to take train to Oslo by 7.50 am and the breakfast starts only by 7.30 AM and we knew we can't take the breakfast from there, but there was no option to book the room without breakfast. If they provide flexibility and allow to book without breakfast, it will match many traveller needs and I will recommend this place to my friends as well.

My first impression was lil off about the location. Getting there was a hurdle. The map shows to take another bus/road and actual bus no is 12.Tried to contact the hostel while confused, but the answers came really late. Upon reaching I realized itās a huge hostel and I was impressed with the volunteers who hosted events there. I had a great time with some of the hostel mates too. You have to pay for your sheets, towels and some rules are not adaptable as in the duvet should go inside the small sheets provided and all . No bathroom Matt makes the room wet all the time. The restarunt food was not up-to my expectation for the price I paid. No alcohol is served in the restaurant as they are still awaiting for the papers. Bring your own alcohol from the city it closes by 7.

The accommodations were great! The staff was friendly and helpful with information for buses, etc. There were activities planned each day if you wanted to participate and the setting is unbelievable! The breakfast served was a buffet with plenty of options!
