Fantastisk kultur og naturperle å sjekke ut på ferietur til Norge. Også et supert sted å dra på lokal ferie til. Anbefales.
Remember that there are a number of protected species and protected areas in Norway. The Norwegian Environment Agency's online map app can be used to investigate the area. The app from the google play arts oracle is also free, where you can enter pictures of the plants you see to check whether they can be picked or whether they are protected. There are quite a few good herbs and edible mushrooms and spinach along the Norwegian coast that can be recommended.
Pick up trash after you and @HoldNorgeRent. Small and large garbage bags and gloves can possibly be picked up free of charge from the center to your camping or traveling around Northern Norway:) Call HoldNorgeRent to check how this can be arranged. Remember to read the safety guides carefully and take the weather and wind into account.
The wind really blew up in the middle of summer's sunny days, so the weather app is a must. Perhaps this with beach cleaning and Keep Norway Clean something to take home with you to your country and start similar environmental measures? Perhaps Keep Norway Clean can contribute.
Tent laws in Norway state that you must move the tent after two days and that you must set up tents only in open fields, at least 150 meters away from properties. To be considerate/leave others alone. But of course ask if there is anything. To check the coverage map if you are going on to Kjerrinøya, there may be less coverage on your mobile phone. Can recommend the 113 app which can be downloaded from google play. It provides a direct number for emergency help in Norway and shows the nearest defibrillators.
No open shops after Løpsmarka, nor petrol stations etc. Remember to fill up with petrol in the city centre, perhaps bring a jug in the car if there is an opportunity to do so. Bring plenty of water and food etc.
There are also a lot of mosquitos and mosquitoes, so suitable mountain clothes to avoid bites, mosquito spray and nets are an advantage. And of course sunscreen etc. in the summer. Can be a difficult hill in winter, so have a help number etc. available. Search the Northern Norway Road Administration for the Road Administration app, where a driving plan can be created in advance and it will be shown if there is anything in the area that needs to be taken into account.
There are also several good guide companies in the Bodø area, including Polar Tours AS. Ask the tourist information office for more...
Read moreI had been looking forward to visiting this place for a long time. I finally got there in the summer 2025. I watched the video in English and later I booked a guided tour. It is really nice to walk by the different buildings and take pictures BUT I highly recommend you booking a guided tour. My guide, a lovely young man called Viggo was my guide. I was the only person in the group so it was a pleasure to listen to Viggo telling me about that amazing place. I learnt a lot of things and it was wonderful. Viggo loves that place and it is clear when you hear him talking about it and showing you so many details and facts about that trading post. I remember Kjerringøy as a really...

This beautiful place really takes you back in history. The trading post is an open air museum in a spectacular bay on an island (see my attached photos!) you can reach within 30 minutes from Bodo
Very service minded staff has a lot of information to tell about this place.
You should plan the visit in the summer months, Jun - Aug. I prefer June or July, that is when the weather is usually the best there.
This was my second visit – and I will be back!
