Hovden Waterpark is a okay place to spend a couple of hours with the kids, but the place is starting to look really outdated and the Covid19 precautions aren't good at all. We went a Friday and didn't find anywhere saying how many people they are allowed to let it, but we became uncomfortable with the amount in there after an hour as people kept coming in. Hovden is a holiday place this means that people come from all over the country to spend a couple of days which speaks for being extra careful. On top of this then Waterpark naturally attracts a lot of kids and young people and kids who tend to forget the distance regulations when having fun in a pool or water slide. We would have wished for better general information on entry so everyone is informed on how to act inside the Waterpark, lifeguards on the toes to enforce this and more signs to remember people on the rules while having fun. It could work....
The changing rooms are not swiped down after use, no hand sanitizer beyond the entry point.
Anyway we left after a couple of hours but had the chance to try the food as well. Bought 4 burgers, firstly they are suuuper high priced, guess it's the "you are in here with no alternative strategy", but then at least make it good. First they forgot to make half of the order, this can happen but super annoying for a family to get burger for one kid. No excuses from the staff but then they urgently made the second round (we ordered 2 vegan and 2 normal burgers) resulting in a highly undercooked (raw) burger for one of my kids. Luckily she didn't not like all the extra fillings they stuffed the burger with and this is another issue - the burger we got looked nowhere near what was displayed on the board when ordering and no questions were asked if we wanted "everything in the burger", I mean corn ain't normal in a burger fx... So we dumped the food an left the Waterpark 1200kr poorer (120€) for a family of 4.
Wanted to, but can't recommend this place for the reasons above. It's easily fixable with some staff control so hope they'll get on it!
PS. Didn't try the spa part as kids aren't allowed there after 13.00 except...

We had to wait in line to get in as the pool was full. (that's perfectly OK)
There were 5 showers in the men's room... There were at least 30 waiting in line.
The water was incredibly dirty, felt like you were swimming in enough skincells to fit 10 people. There were pieces of foam mats floating everywhere. Even after showering rigorously for 10 minutes at the park and 30 minutes at home I still feel dirty...
The main slide they have there has got to be lethal. Its a miracle no one have died in it. If you take it with full speed as I did you run the risk of flying out of it at the bottom and straight into a concrete pillar. A girl who was maybe 10 or 12 almost flew out and got really scared.
Maintenence in the general pool seems to be somewhat lacking as the floor was very stained in places.
The food was OK but extremely pricey.
The locker rooms are very small compared to the...
Read moreThe staff were really lovely and helpful about my disabilities. Which helped make my day easier to enjoy.
The pool is so lovely with areas for children as well as adults. The main pool also leads to the outside which gives a wonderful view of the mountains of Hovden. The spa is only small with a few attractions, but it looks very lovely and is a great area to relax. It's very good value for money and I really would recommend this place for the whole family.
There are also two waterslides.
The food was lacking in vegetarian options, but the staff were kind enough to sort out a very delicious pasta salad. They also took my food allergies...
