Trollpikken — Attraction in Eigersund

I thought this was a good quick hike. There are so many amazing hikes in this part of Norway and this one doesn’t really hold up to Preikestolen or Trolltunga, but it also much shorter. This only took about 30 minutes to get to the rock. There are a ton of wind turbines on the horizon once you get to the trollpriken which is kind of cool but at the same time spoils the natural scenery.

The parking was somewhat confusing. It was down the road a ways from the start of the trail and there is another trail entrance located on the parking lot. Don’t use that one. It goes nowhere. Once you park, follow the paved road you took to get there for about a quarter mile further and you will find...

An easy hike. We did it (return) in an hour and 15 minutes, including pictures. To get on the actual Trollpikken, you would need a rope. Not so much to go down ( one could jump), but to get back up. Perhaps not the safest thing to do, considering it has been 'reattached', and you may be responsible for any damage (or your heirs). If you plan to stay overnight on the parking, be aware that each day costs 100NOK. The ticket is for 24 hours, but expires at midnight. So if you arrive at 0:01, you can sleep for 100 NOK, if you arrive earlier, it will cost you 2 x 100 NOK. Either a rip-off for campers or a way to discourage overnight stays at the car park. Der Trollpikken ist eine Reise wert – nicht nur wegen der spektakulären Landschaft, sondern auch wegen seiner einzigartigen Geschichte. Die Felsformation besteht aus Anorthosit, demselben Gestein wie auf dem Mond, weshalb das Gebiet oft als „Mondlandschaft“ bezeichnet wird – tatsächlich erinnert die raue Umgebung stark an die Oberfläche unseres Erdtrabanten .

Die Wanderung führt auf gut markiertem, relativ einfachem Weg zum Ziel. Oben angekommen, bietet die breite Felsplattform eine beeindruckende Aussicht. Bei uns war das Wetter perfekt und wir waren sogar fast alleine – ein besonderer Moment in dieser ohnehin außergewöhnlichen Kulisse.

Der offizielle Parkplatz kostet 100 NOK und kann per EasyPark (Vipps) bezahlt werden. Der Mobilfunkempfang vor Ort war allerdings sehr schwach, sodass die Bezahlung erst nach etwas Geduld geklappt hat.

Optisch erinnert der Felsen eher an einen Elefantenkopf, statt an einen männlichen Körperteil – aus der Vogelperspektive wirkt er stark wie eine Rüsselnase, was ihn noch sympathischer macht.
