A more relaxed alternative to tusenfryd or the other more traditional theme parks just over 1hr and 30 mins from Oslo. We purposely chose a rainy day to visit but that didn't by any means dampen the experience. We started the day with some lunch in the restaurant. The usual pizza, toasts on the limited menu. Tasted ok. After paying for tickets (i still haven't decided if I think the price is fair or not) We managed to tear the kids past the indoor playarea and out into the park. We were advised to follow the program to get the most out of the day. Good advice. At each station there was a informative presentation delivered in an engaging manner by obviously passionate staff. Moving between each post was via beautifully sculpted forest walkways...although it's worth Checking the map to find best way for pushchair access. The program allowed time to play at one of the various playgrounds and ride the rollercoaster. Unfortunately we'd just been at tusenfryd a few days before so in comparison the kids weren't that impressed. With heavy rain we retreated to the indoor play area - which the kids loved. When the rain lightened we headed back out to the zip wire. Whilst both kids were given harnesses - and excitedly made the trip up to the ledge... Our son was then informed he was too skinny. And whilst we respect the safety factor, this was A massive dissapointment . Especially after we'd used around 30 minutes beforehand convincing him to try. One size of harness really doesn't fit all. Time to invest in some kids harnesses I feel!!! Or at least have staff that can check this before sending them up to the ledge. It was then a long wait until the end of the day to ensure the kids got hold a snake. Most other families had given up waiting. To be fair this was the highlight of the day... Although I think the kids had expected to hold a bigger snake. The gift shop was the last obstacle ... I personally would have liked to see more items related to the park. Not just the usual overpriced stuff.
On the whole - definitely worth a visit. Seeing bears up close for me was the whole point of the trip. And that we...
Read moreIt's small! We arrived early, at 10.30, but by 12.30, we had seen everything! For such an expensive price, I expected the family to be occupied for the whole day. The best thing is the two big bears, which were very visible and seemed to enjoy the visitor's attention, so this was really nice. For the other animals, they were less easy to see and all presentations were IN NORWEGIAN ONLY! No possibility to have a translation. Compared to the zoo at Kristiansand, there is really only a very small number of animals to see! Our kids are aged 8 and 12. The 8 year-old enjoyed the medium-size playground, but there are no activities for older kids. Again, compared to Kristiansand zoo, the "water park" and playground are tiny! Seriously, the water park is similar to what you might have in your garden! I would have appreciated a hands on experience with the animals, but there was nothing like that apart from the goats & llamas (maybe Covid restrictions limiting the offer). Pizza at the main restaurant was very nice, but the quinoa salad was a ready-made salad pot that is available at the supermarket x5 the price! This is a good park for Norwegian families with small kids under 8 years, but for tourists, or families with older kids, or couples, it is not worth a visit and certainly not...
Read moreVery Disappointing. A Complete Waste of Time, Effort, and Money! We had high hopes after seeing the advertising, whoever is in charge of that should absolutely get a raise. Unfortunately, the reality couldn't have been more different. The first thing we saw were the crocodiles, and it honestly felt cruel. Six crocodiles crammed into a small, dirty enclosure, it was upsetting to see, especially with children. From there, things didn’t improve. The dinosaur displays were underwhelming and not engaging at all. The food options were poor in both quality and selection. Staff didn’t inspire any confidence when we asked about allergens, a serious concern for families with dietary needs. On top of that, it was overpriced for what was offered. The tables in the restaurant were already sticky and visibly dirty when they opened, and we didn’t see anyone cleaning during our visit. We expected a fun, family friendly day out, but many areas of the park felt unsafe for small children, and navigating with a pushchair was a struggle. We had hoped to spend the whole day there, but after just 1.5 hours, we were ready to leave. We won’t be back ever. If you’re considering a visit, I highly recommend saving your money and going to Kristisand Dyreparken instead. This place was a...
