Absolutely beautiful and fantastic, and a must go in Lofoten. We went up to Ryten to see the view before getting down to the beach and it is absolutely worth it! We were with our kids of 6 and 9 years old who are used to doing some hiking but it is demanding, both to go up (not requiring any special technique though) and down to the beach as there are a lot of rocks. In total we spent 6hs but used the time in Ryten and in the beach. Important to have sufficient water and food as there is no place to buy it. I do not recommend going if it is raining as it could be super slippery. It was foggy in the beginning but clear...

This hike is 2 hours up 2 hours down, total of 4 hours. At one point in the trial you are forced to climb up a series of jagged, sharp-edged rocks, through a narrow vertical passageway. It is extremely dangerous, if you happen to slip during that point in the climb you are nearly guaranteed to have serious injuries. To give you an idea, imagine a steep vertical bookshelf stair case, now instead of stairs there are thin protruding sharp rocks that have been carved by water erosion. If you are convinced about this hike, you must bring poles and pack lightly. Also your boots need to have exceptional...

The trail was just really beautiful. There was well marked trail , It started of with a bit of climb and them it was walking on wooden planks wherever it was water or ice on the trail. The view along the trail was really beautiful with mountains and lake behind. After reaching the trail highest point we had to go down but it was already dark and the trail seemed a little slippery because of ice. So we decided not to continue. But the view of the beach below and mountains seems so damn beautiful. Total length of the trail is around 2-2.5kms. and its best to do in summers when there is...

First, an important advice: Never underestimate a weather forecast and don’t do the hike on sneakers. It takes you almost 600m up and down AND a 7km steep walk. Nevertheless: Extraordinary beautiful beach! One of a kind setting between the mountains. The small wooden planks can be slippery. Even in may I walked through and on snow and ice. I Didn’t make it to Ryten as the top was covered in fog but enjoyed silent time for myself on that beautiful piece of earth. Truly a natural wonder!

Scenic and iconic hike with Kvalvika Beach as a well worthy final destination. Quite busy but Kvalvika is wide and you can easily find a spot where you can sit down and contemplate all impressions and the view. Bring a tent if you’re fine with sleeping outside, plenty of grass fields where you can camp. If you dare I highly recommend you to climb the cliffs over to the southern part of the beach, this allowes you to take a different path back to the car which also are quite beautiful.
