If you plan to visit Lofoten this summer, you MUST hike to Kvalvika beach 🏖️ Seriously one of the craziest places I’ve ever seen 🤯 Also, I laughed at this audio for an hour yesterday 😂 of course I had to use it 👀 #lofotenislands #lofotennorway #lofoten #visitnorway #northernnorway #nordnorge #mittnorge #norgeimitthjerte Lofoten guide | Lofoten tips | Visit Lofoten

Hello from Norway 🇳🇴 🏔️ Visiting this beautiful country Norway and Lofoten island specifically have been one of my dream destinations and I finally got to check it off the bucket list. Ryten in Lofotenodden national park is one of the most popular hiking area in Lofoten. The view from the top of Ryten far down to the long golden Kvalvika beach is breathtaking 🤯 📍Ryten / Kvalvika ( 5.4 miles total ) ————————— Outfits 👇🏼 Beanies: @carhartt Jacket: @triplefatgoose Jogger : @alphalete Shoes : @hoka #visitnorway #explorenorway #norwaytravel #northernnorway #lofotennorway #lofotenislands #travelphotographer

A beautiful beach. You can find the best views from the ryten-mountain/fjäll which is next to the beach. Hiking to Kvalvika beach from the Kvalvika beach trail head took us 40 minutes. From Kvalvika beach up the Ryten-mountain it took 1 hour more. All in all it took about 4 hours to hike up the mountain to see the views/take some pictures and hike back to the parking lot. We did all this with a very quick tempo and all of us are in a very good physical condition. I would say 4 hours is the minimum time it takes to do the hike and stop to take some pictures in the meantime. Hike is sometimes very muddy and slippery, so don't use your best shoes. Hiking shoes are very ideal for the route. The hike from parking lot to Kvalvika beach is quite easy, but the second part from the beach up the mountain is challenging and takes more time. If you want to find where the closest parking lot to the beach is, search "Kvalvika beach trail head" and you should find where the trail starts. There is also a medium sized parking lot (for about 15 cars). The parking lot is free, but usually quite full.

The beach was beautiful, but unfortunately it had a lot of toilet paper and poop (we didn't leave ours there). The trail was quite hard to follow since it only indicated Ryten. At one point during the trail, you can see a massive ridge with people walking along it and naturally you follow. Unfortunately that's the trail to Ryten, not Kvalvika beach. Instead look for a white sign on a rock that says Kvalvika and expect it to be hidden. This place is at the top of the mountain and from there you're very close to the beach but you cannot see it. The descent down to the beach is very steep and long but at least you have a great view of the beach and mountains and ocean. The beach is kind of overrun with people; there were at least 22 tents when we stayed (including ours). There is also a lot of wind and sheep. To get there we took the 300 bus from Moskenes kai (you can also take the 742) to Fredvang kryss. From there we walked 4 km to the trail head (which can be found on Google maps) and then walked another 4 km to the beach via the trail via Innerland. There are some creeks you can get water from but make sure to purify or boil it first.

Very touristic place, but for a reason. The hike to the beach does not take too long and it is easy accessible to everyone. However, the last part downhill towards the beach is very steep and it can be challenging for someone if it rained the day before and there are many people trying to go in the same/opposite direction. The beach offers many spots for placing a tent and relax. The ocean water was incredibly cold even though we visited in late July. Don't get scared though, take a little swim and you can wash the salt away with the mountain water that comes down to the beach. They set up a little tube that provides fresh water and can be also used to clean dishes or refill your bottles. Parking your car at the beginning of the trail will cost you a few kr depending if you will stay overnight or just in a day hike.
