This hike is definitely NOT for beginners! As someone not so used to mountain hiking, I found it quite difficult, very technical and physically demanding. It took us about 1.5 hours to reach the top and 1 hour to come back down. Some sections are particularly exposed and impressive, requiring full concentration to stay on the path and not feel overwhelmed (at least for me).

As like most mountain hikes in Lofoten, you need proper hiking gear (shoes), without it this trail is nearly impossible. It’s all mud, rocks, and uneven terrain.

The viewpoint where you can see the bridge is still a stretch away from the summit. I was already too overwhelmed to go all the way there but my husband did and is very nice :)

Finding the starting point can be a bit tricky. From the E10, turn south into Skjelfjord. As you approach the village, look for an orange building on the right, with cod-drying racks on the opposite side. There’s a small parking area next to the building. This is where the...

Don’t go in a rainfall or hail, especially before the sunset. But in the summer there should be no sunset, right? Didn’t finish, had 400m to get to the top, but was caught up by snow and hail blizzard. Snow covered the trail and I got lost couple times as it was impossible to see the trail. Very muddy, slippery and during the rainfall crossing in some places goes through full streams. Didn’t enjoy it at all. Had zero visibility on the top due to heavy hail and cloud. But...

Great hike to Volandstinden from small parking lot on the way to Skjelfjorden in Flakstad municipality. All range of views in one hike. Which is unique in my opinion. Small shed to rest after maybe 10 min hike. After few days with rain and 2 days sun still quite many muddy sections. Keep to the trail and take all the garbage you produce...

Underrated mountain in Lofoten Islands. It was a moderate hike with some rocky and muddy terrain. At the beginning of the trailhead, there were some muddy paths. After that it will be a mud road leading up to some rocky terrain for you to climb to the peak. Do not recommend if it is raining.
