We did the Flekkefjordbanen rail biking experience with our two young kids and had a really lovely time exploring Norway in such a unique way.

We had booked the 16:00 slot, and while the start was a bit chaotic with many people arriving at the same time, the staff welcomed us with kindness and clarity. They helped everyone get their helmets and safety vests, and made sure we fully understood the safety instructions and how the trip would go. We really appreciated the clear guidance and the tips on where to stop and where to find toilets along the route.

After a quick demo and checking that our belongings were secure, we were off! The tunnels were quite cold, just as we’d been told, but we had brought sweaters (especially for the kids) and were glad we did.

The journey itself was beautiful. One stunning view after the other. A truly special way to see a different side of Norway. It took us just over an hour on a non-electric bike to reach the endpoint.

The only downside was the wait at the end: we had about 45 minutes before we could return, and there wasn't much to do during that time. Two picnic tables were all that was available. A little café, vending machine, or play area would have made the pause a lot more enjoyable.

The ride back was smooth, and we all returned with big smiles. It was a fun and memorable experience: peaceful, scenic, and great for families with...

We had huge fun experiencing adventure. We were three families and took El cycle.my sincere advice is to take El cyle if someone riding with small kids and also for specialneeds kids. This adventure is also especially fun for specialneeds kids ,we are also having a three year old and were offered a car seat to transport her. That is really great advantage. We followed the tips how to ride and also safety measurement. The main person who is responsible in flekkefjordbanen office was so helpful and also very responsive throughout our conversation from booking to end of the trip. This trip will be helpful to kids as a educational purpose also.Atleast to try this ride in their life for one time,it is really funfilled family activiti .Bring some snacks and...

If only you’re fit - I recommend doing this. The experience is so much different than riding a train or even regural bicycle: you go through it with all senses :) temperature drops and humidity in the tunnels, plus pitch black darkness, and than the sights over bridges and cliffs, smells in the forest, draft and wind in your face in gorges. Definitely worth the effort :) Note however: the equipement is quite loud, so it is not a place for easy chit chat. To take a brake or reverse direction (which all do after 2 hours, wherever you are) you need to lift the dresine and carry it wherever u need it. This requires quite some muscle. Pro tip: have the route plan handy to know how long are the tunnels so that you get...

What a great adventure! The scenery was amazing. The ride was not easy, but very much worth it. The people in our time group were all so nice. Everyone helped each other turn our carts around. Two people could turn them around, but everyone said it would be easier if we helped each other. The employees were so helpful and nice, especially Ephrem. We had our luggage with us and they let us store it there while we did our ride and went to eat afterward. Ephrem even loaned me his rain pants since it was forecast to rain during our ride. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure our bike ride was great. I would highly recommend Flekkefjord Line!

Even us 2 very obese Americans were able to do this (but it is tiring to the unfit, don’t be fooled...it’s just not difficult. Just imagine riding steady on the upright bike at the gym on medium resistance). LOVED: 1. that we could stop wherever we wanted (only if you’re the last bike) and were able to enjoy a nice lunch break at a defunct train station bc of this 2. could turn 180 and head back sooner instead of following the front of the pack further on and 3. The nice cooling winds in the tunnels. A LITTLE FREAKY: 1. Going through the long tunnels cuz pitch black and 2. small but loud bumps from the rail connections.
