P & O- not worth it. Roll up to church like all in middle England listening to a nice lady sing really well and with excellent stories told in an amusing way. Then went to a museum about a couple of viking kings not vikings in general and a gift shop with not a lot in unless you want a wooden axe. Then a 40 minute hike over rough country side so bring decent shoes and if in the rain be very careful its an accident waiting to happen the path is gravel and full of puddles with steep climbs. The village is half shut up and only one building you go to with a fire but was then dragged out side which would have been ok if you weren't in Norway with the rain🤣, to have a little snippet of info delivered by a chap that could be done inside but isn't for some reason. Then not enough time to enjoy the view before you have to be back onto a bus heading back to the ship. A coffee shop is on site but no time to visit and if you need a wee, well you have to be quick🤣. The tour guide Hilda though was brilliant and...

I read the critics, thinking some people should sit on their hands.... It was raining? The house are replicats? You are in Norway, this area show us how they lived 1000 years ago! Offcourse its rainy and they are replica! The museum is great. Informative and a place to touch things, sit in a boat, feel the clothes. The vikinggård is beautyful, and really a place to learn. I have been here a few times. My only comments: The herbal garden: would have been more attende to, and I wish it had more signs/names of the herbs, not only the poster on the wall. The film at the museum: Even though we are Norwegians and do know the tales about the Gods, it was really hard to separate the two ongoing stores, it could clearly be told in a more understanding way. And three: yes, you can use a wheelchair, but with the steep hills and the long roads to Vikingården it would be highly dangerous. This is not good enough for handicaped people. But the church and the center is ok also for wheelchairs. All in all:...

Went through P&O and not worth it. Rushed visit through the different areas with a lot of repeated information. The lady who greeted us in the church was very informative and entertaining with a lovely voice as she sung a traditional Norwegian song. The main Viking centre given audio as all in Norwegian and didn't flow in chronological order- so confusing,🤣🤣🤣. A walk to the viking village after is over a gravel path over about 30 mimutes that becomes waterlogged with some steep inclines. Not the safest and good footwear needed. Was given a talk in the pouring rain in the open air so be prepared for getting wet! Not all buildings were open to explore despite being told they were. Would be a lovely day if not raining. Rather rushed with P&O no time for coffee stop and if you want a wee, well you need to be quick. Wouldn't recommend if you struggle with some mobility issues. On a positive all staff were really friendly and helpful and put your guide Hilda was...

I love history so this really floated my boat! The museum is worth a visit & it has English audio headsets & English translation plaques on the walls. The farm was very interesting with live 'actors' who are very knowledgeable. I smelt of wood smoke for quite a while after! It's quite a walk, about 15-20mins dependant on your ability and it's not wheelchair friendly really, loads of gravel paths, walking through woods etc. An all terrain scooter would be great though. The walk is very scenic, beautiful and very windy and cold! The church holds interesting history also as well as the doomsday needle outside leaning towards the wall of the church - if it touches the church wall we're all doomed I tell you!!! I think the guide says it's 14cm away atm. The guide was again very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Reasonable prices for Norway so worth the visit.

A fascinating insight into how the Vikings must have lived, in a most beautiful setting. I do wish that the staff wearing Viking costume had been a little bit more ‘interactive’ and informative with visitors on an ad hoc, proactive basis (as is the case with all other costumed historical parks we have been to), rather than just sitting round a table drinking coffee, chatting to each other and accepting payment, but it seemed that they only ‘acted’ in their Viking roles during scheduled tours, which did not suit our busy schedule and so we had to move on. It is a good idea to wear wellie boots that you won’t mind getting covered in sheep droppings, because these are everywhere. Not a complaint - just a tip for others.

What a breathtaking place to truly see the way of vikings. I wish I could live here myself. Seeing the young children there working, going to school, was really eye opening. We paid for a tour here when we got off of our cruise ship, and are so glad we did! We learned so many new things, got a chance to view the beautiful area on the farm, and the Viking guide was AMAZING! We would listen to him talk all day if we could! Don't miss this on your next visit to Norway! My only advice would be to visit on your own and not through a cruise shore excursion, as those are very rushed and you can't take everything in like you could if you visited Norway on your own and got to choose how long you visit places!
