If, like me, you seem to spend a lot of your work trips stuck in upmarket hotel room, the novelty of living out of a suitcase soon becomes very tedious.||||But, after traveling to some 56 countries (between work and vacations), this month I have stayed in the most relaxing place in the world at Ulvesund Fyr ('fyr' being the Norwegian word for lighthouse), near the town of Maloy, about half way up the west coast of Norway.||||Operated in the summer months by Mum-of-two and renowned folk singer Sulvie Hopman, the fully operational Ulvesund Fyr lighthouse is the ultimate in traditional cottage-style living and with home cooked meals, baked bread, fish caught locally by family members and friends, I have never before experienced such a wonderful and pleasant family atmosphere during a work trip.||||If you like gold taps and marble in your 5-star hotel room then Ulvesund Fyr is not for you -- but if you want a taste of real traditional life in wonderful rustic surroundings, with stunning panoramic views of the fjords on your doorstep, then I would strongly recommend this guesthouse-- I know that I'll certainly be back... 😊||||Cormac...

And ask for more petting. They even allowed to dogs to say hi. The complex also has a small restaurant and their fish soup is highly recommended. The room price was a very reasonable 550 NOK per person,...
