I'm sharing with you breathtaking aerial footage of Greenland, a remarkable destination renowned for its unique polar ice caps. Greenland is a place that deserves to be seen and experienced firsthand.

Located in the Arctic region, Greenland is the world's largest island and is known for its awe-inspiring landscapes. The aerial views of Greenland showcase its vast icy terrain, featuring colossal glaciers that stretch as far as the eye can see. These magnificent ice formations present an otherworldly beauty that is truly mesmerizing.

One of the most captivating sights in Greenland is the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you soar above it, you'll witness an impressive display of towering icebergs, floating majestically in the crystal-clear waters. The sheer size and intricate shapes of these icebergs leave a lasting impression, highlighting the raw power and grandeur of nature.

Exploring Greenland's polar ice caps is an extraordinary adventure. Guided tours offer the opportunity to embark on exhilarating hikes across icy landscapes or even participate in dog sledding, a traditional mode of transportation in the Arctic. Additionally, witnessing the stunning Northern Lights dancing across the night sky is a bucket-list experience that should not be missed in Greenland.

Aside from its natural wonders, Greenland is also home to vibrant indigenous communities with rich cultural traditions. Engaging with the locals provides a unique insight into their way of life, allowing visitors to appreciate the resilience and adaptability of the people who call this icy wonderland home.

I found this really impressive buildings, the whole park is quite large with all those rails to bring that ammunition to the bunkers. woow very cool

The fort was constructed between 1941 and 1944 by the German navy. Together with four other coastal batteries, it formed a part of the Kristiansand Artillery Group. Together with his sister battery at Hanstholm in Denmark, Møvik Fort was built to obstruct Allied naval forces by blocking the Skagerrak strait and the seaways to Eastern Norway, the Kattegatt Bay, the Baltic Sea and the Baltic region for the allied naval forces. Only a field, at nautical miles wide, in the Skagerrak could not be covered by the guns of these facilities. This field was therefore mined.

Adolf Hitler personally worked for the barrier strategy and the decision about the fortress in Hanstholm was made in May 1940. In May 1941, two of the guns in Hanstholm were started in place and on the Norwegian side preparatory work. Plans for a museum ground in 1984. After extensive renovation work in the late 1980s and early 1990s by local armed forces and the Kristiansand Cannon Museum Møvik, a foundation was laid in 1991, and a part of the fort was opened to the public in 1993. Efforts to restore the 600 mm (1 ft 11 5⁄8 in) narrow gauge funicular railway who once transported the heavy shells are well underway.

The fortress had four gun positions, or which one of the guns is still intact. There are empty gun emplacements and an empty casemate. The 38 cm caliber gun is one of the largest in the world; the barrel alone weighs 110 tons, measures almost 20 m in length and has a range or up to 55 km (34 miles). In the museum, this historic site can be experienced, by following the Fortress Trail - a walk to places and buildings that tell of everyday life in a fortress and national,...

Great place and very interesting museum. Unfortunately, both the main attraction (i.e the cannon) and the rest of the fortress area is in decay and in dire need of some serious attention. A few small thing have been done the last few years, such as restoration of the railroad track, but it is far from enough. The gun is rusting away. The old ruins are overgrown and not attended to. Information or signs about the elements in the area are scarce or no longer to be found. It's a shame. There's so much more history to the area than just the main gun that should be told.

2020 - Edit: The main attraction, ie the gun has now been given an overhaul with rust repair and a new paintjob.

2021 - Edit: A new visitors center has been built. The museum finally have proper toilet...

Sat up on the high ground this huge Canon was 1 of 4 built by the Germans during WW11 to command the shipping routes around this area, and were part of many stretching around the whole coastline. It consists of a whole network of tunnels with metal tracks for taking ammunition from 1 gun encasement to another, which you can walk through and see also rooms for living quarters, ammunition, shells and all sorts of equipment needed to run the operation of the huge guns. No use here for disabled access though. Also quite a few steps etc about. There is a small cafe, come shop and info centre.
