Heads up for you guys. It’s a beautiful place yes BUT if you want to fulfill your expectations be prepared for:
Paying 100nok for parking via (vips or there is a guy with a card machine) 2.there are dry toilets only but look aftered and clean. 3.NOW THE LAKE: it is 30minutes up hill to get to that picture spot. Which is obviously full of people so you need to wait to get that picture. 4.it’s not allowed to swim there but here is the tricky part 5.there is a place to chill and possibly jump really quickly to the water and refresh yourself but you have to hike around the lake where is a stoney beach. And it is up and down sometimes quite tricky and very very muddy so don’t expect nice and easy path around lake and don’t take white summer shoes like I did 🙈😀 It will take you about 1h plus from the car park to that beach 8.you can camp there and stay over night in a tent
Over all the area is absolutely stunning !! Really beautiful and we caught really nice and sunny weather so we were chilling all day on that beach on the sun after challenging hike we did say before...
Read moreThe walk until the lake is easy. You have a 2 meters wide well prepared path. Possible to ride a bike, go with a baby carriage and have your jeans on. If your goal is to see a glacier lake and a piece of the glacier, stop here. After the front lake view point there's already a hiking trail with the rocks, trees roots and some mud on the ground. So if you are ready for a hike go for it and you will see a few waterfalls, also you can reach another side of the lake and go to the beach where you can have a nice view at the U-shaped glacier valley. To go further it's doesn't make sense at all only if you want to exercise! You will walk through the forest and in the end your will see a rock wall, but your won't see the glacier, because it's already melted away! If you really want to see a magnificent glacier go to Jostedal and won't...
Read moreSuper beautiful spot, and an easy location to hike to. Hike would be a generous description, as it's a wide gravel trail with a slight uphill the whole way to the lake. I'd recommend getting there early in the day; we were the only people at the lake for the 30 minutes or so were were there, and then passed dozens of people during our walk back to the parking area. Be sure to pay for a parking pass; it's not obvious where to do that when you get to the parking area. It was over by the bathrooms as of May 2023, but it looked like it was under construction...
