Beautiful leisure stroll here... always nice to be with nature. It took us an hour to get to the edge of Folgefonna National Park (Lake Bondhus) and back.

While walking there you will be accompanied by the calming waterfalls.

The road is known as the “ice road”. Constructed around 1860 it was originally used to transport blocks of ice from the Bondhus glacier (visible at the far end of the lake). A footpath on the right-hand side of the lake will lead you all the way to the glacier fall. Take note of the warning signs near the glacier and follow its...

Amazing hike up to a glacier. It is quite a challenging hike so come prepared with good shoes. Climbing and rocky trails with some water crossings. We did it with our dog and in many places we needed to carry her. To get to the glacier you need to book a tour as it can be quite dangerous. There is a pay parking on the start of the hike 230 kr and 300 kr extra in case you want to stay the night. Only campers allowed, no tents. Drive up is very narrow, mainly 1 way with passing points. I recommend it it is quite...

Pros: Beautiful glacier peaks. Incredible trails. Cons: very crowded, overrun with tourists. I knew I was in trouble when I saw a "Folgefonna Shuttle." 😕

My suggestion is talk to some locals & find some trails off the beaten path, which there are many. That's what I did and I was not disappointed. I found a trail on the other side of the fjord that led into the back of the park.

Along the trail, I passed through several pastures, met up with sheep, cows, beautiful horses, all curious and very friendly. It...

We loved the hike! It was a great experience. If you follow the signs for Buer going south of of Odda you will come to a parking lot. The hike starts through a farm and up into the woods. Eventually it will start to get a bit more rocky and mountainous. Follow the red Ts along the trail and you'll be fine. There are some small bridges and ropes you need to use because it gets very steep. It was snowy towards the top even in May. Once you get to the top you need a guide to hike the actual glacier.

Beautiful Park which has not been overrun by tourists yet. Can be reached from all sides. Lots of beautiful and long hiking trails. The glacier is breathtaking and definitely worth a visit. Make sure to have an offline trail map with you as the internet connection is very poor. Great for wild camping in the summer months. Be prepared for fast weather changes.
