Jostedalsbreen to największy lodowiec w kontynentalnej Europie. Głębokość Jostedalsbreen dochodzi w niektórych miejscach do 600 metrów. Jego długość sięga lekko powyżej 60 kilometrów. Lodowiec jest objęty ochroną w ramach parku narodowego, założonego w 1991 roku.

The plague outside says National Park visitor center, but the bathroom is for paying customer... Apparently the national park does NOT welcome visitors unless they are rich paying customers

Was given a false information about a tour when called (need for equipment, walk path etc) but then was lead to a super simple tour which can be done by anyone on foot (no need a guide and not whats promised) while yes we should be more careful reading online but the staff doesn’t know their information which can be not only misleading but dangerous, when talked to higher ups they admitted that basically yes you shouldn’t believe what staff says and check yourself which is extremely unprofessional. And weird to not be able to trust information from the call?!? No sorry heard just aggressive. When talking or asking that staff should be trained properly we just hear “its word against word, not our problem, leave” so if you wanna visit the glacier either go by yourself or book online (which has tours) since in person there could be miss understanding. Edit: after going back and forth got a sorry and some food which was nice of them and a friend of mine tried it and said its good, but i personally...

We booked the 2,5h Glacier View Point Tour with Märtha that also included a little boat cruise with Sigrid and we absolutely enjoyed it! Märtha did a great job in explaining us the history of the glacier and the whole valley around. She showed us amazing details on the way that we wouldn’t even have noticed without a guide. Also she pointed out how crucial it is for your own safety to respect the warning signs and road blocks towards the glacier water. People already got washed away by a sudden floodwave because they were standing too close to the water. Reason was a piece of the glacier that broke off, blocked the water for a while and then it would suddenly break through with enormous power. So if you want to experience the beauty of the glacier do yourself a favor and do it with a guide. That is safer and so...

This focuses on the centre itself, not the glacier. The exhibitions are interesting and nicely interactive. Though several were not working or not present which was a shame. The entry price is ok and there is a car park where you can leave your vehicle if you want to walk to the glacier (which I would recommend). The food in the cafe is well below average and clearly isn’t made by someone who has a lot of experience in catering and the are many dead flies at the windows which is...
