Good off street parking then walk south to footpath entrance. Friendly neighbours as you walk in. A smile and a “ Heisun “ ( Hello ) . For a near-Pensioner its a rubble and root-field of a pathway. Well marked with Red ‘dawbs’ of paint to keep you on track. You see and hear the gushing outflow of torrential water all the way up to your left, with the grandness of the ‘Fear’ Waterfall at Journeys end. Some good bench seats strategically positioned on the walk up if you need a rest. In wet conditions the many many tree roots that decorate the pathways offer additional grip to footwear. You absolutely need the stability of ankle covering footwear to prevent a wrenched tendon or sprained ankle. Loads of places to enjoy picture taking, see the surrounding sheer rock faces and the opposite side of Lustrafjord too. Really worth it. Tranquil. Every bit of a 150 metres rise in elevation as you walk up.

One of many beautiful places in Norway, but this one is special, kanoe trip from beautiful accommodation 2 km from waterfall takes 40 minutes easy ride ,then you can have refreshments by small kaffe right under the waterfall...they operate only trough season and only until 16:00 .... and then 40 min slow walk under the waterfall itself...beautiful

Beautiful and impressive waterfall. Hiking up and back should take a good hour. Great place to combine with a visit to the wooden church is Ornes close by. Take the ferry in one direction and drive the old (and very narrow) road back to the main road for a great day trip.
