Bjørn West was one out of many Milorg bases in German-occupied Norway, located in Matrefjella in Masfjorden. The base was under the direct command of the Norwegian High Command in London. The purpose of the base was to set up a force that could operate behind German lines in case of an allied invasion of Norway.

Nice little museum about the Norwegian resistance in World War II. The road to the museum was a bit hard to find due to roadworks, but we were brave enough to find the detour along a partially unpaved road! Very friendly English speaking host (she is half Norwegian half British), most info in the museum is in Norwegian but we were the only guests so she was explaining everything. There is a 15 minute video presentation in English. It was a wonderful experience, a nice stop just next to the E39.

Echt een leuk en klein museum. Super enthousiaste jongens gaf ons uitleg in het Engels, want het meeste is in het Noors. Bijzonder verhaal over deze verzetsgroep. Je moet echt ook even naar boven rijden naar Stordalen Fjellstove, dan krijg je een goed beeld van de uitzonderlijke prestaties van deze groep. Een aanrader!

small and charming museum dedicated to the Norwegian resistance group. Start with watching the 15 minutes video, also in English and German available. Small exhibition with many historical objects, descriptions only available in Norwegen. Very nice and helpful staff, helpful with explanations. Tickets 100...
