The best way to see ' the great blue' glaciers is by ship, from spring to summer. Its constant movement, crackling sounds and floating ice cubes (more so rapidly due to global warming) is a phenomina on its very own. And not many people get to go this Artic north, nor see Spitsbergen on bigger cruise ships, as i was so lucky with the Cunard Queens. For the new law bans ships carring more than 700 passengers. So if you really want to get up close or put your foot on 'terra firma', it would be best to use the Norwegian ferry. Definately one off the bucket list as it stays...
