We had a late flight, so we basically had a day to spare, but not enough to venture far out of Stavanger. Tungenes Fyr was the ideal place to explore. We were practically the only ones there. Nothing was open though, so we walked around, dipped our toes in the water, and basically enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. Although really quiet it was not, for there were birds that were particularly loud. I later found out that they were the common redshank. The birds had their breeding plumage so they were probably trying to scare us away from their nests. If one has done all of the much sought out explorations Stavanger has to offer and you want to spend a quiet day with a small picnic in peace, i recommend visiting...

A lovely hidden gem easily accessible by public transport! I would recommend taking the bus to Mekjavik and then walking to Tungenes lighthouse, the way is super pretty and peaceful (you can find the tour on the UT app or website) If the restaurant is open make sure to try one of their delicious waffles or cake. You can get a private visit of the lighthouse for 40NOK and I would highly recommend it. The place is furnished with things from the 40s and the tour guide will tell you more about the life of the lighthouse keepers and their families. Also everyone working there is really friendly and...

Nice views of the open ocean and the inland islands. All ships and boats to Stavanger and fjords come past here. The lighthouse itself has art, info plaques and events on fairly regularly. There are WWII fortifications in the area and toilets nearby. Easy access via gravel road from huge parking area in...

This is a really nice historic site to visit with beautiful scenery. There is a lot if information about Norwegian lighthouse history and also World War 2 infrastructure can still be seen around the area. Its a great place for walking, fishing from the shore, and learning a bit of the area's history.
