An overall good ski area. Apart from the goal area of the Olympic, there is two important locations. Mittelstation and Skitorget that both have skishops with rental, cafeteria, ski school etc.
The kids area at Mittelstation isn't terribly good and belt was broken when we where there. The one at Skitorget is acceptable and has a both a kids transport belt and drag lift (button).
The Olympic downhill track (1a+1b) is definitely an asset to this area. Even though the top part (1a) was closed at our visit, it's rely awesome. Steep and icy - really really fast.
When we visited late January 4-5 slopes where closed, which makes the area kind of small. OK for 3 days with the family but not enough for a week. Not even close.
Tip: the rental shops at the two locations are the part of the same business and you can return equipment in both regardless of where it was picked up.
The cabin we rented had ski in/out but it was poorly marked, and not very smooth. We basically had to.make our own tracks.
In classic Norway-style, the cabin are poorly numbered and near impossible to find. It's like they don't want...
Read moreDo not stay in Mellomstasjon if you are a family with small children learning to ski! There are no ski lessons currently offered other than private. The children's area is very small and currently next to a building site. The button lift G was also closed next to the children zone which meant there was no slope for them to progress safely on. Route 9 is indicated as green but it is blue in reality. There was not even baby changing facilities in the public toilet facilities. Try another side of the resort or another ski resort that is better suited to life with small people. Great snow, beautiful views and friendly staff on the lifts! Special thanks to the guy form snow patrol who took time to set up the kids area as it was not done. Regretted...
Read moreToo much beeping in the evening and night (sometimes to 1-2am) from slope preparation machines backing up! Skiing area is fine and well connected, but many green or blue slopes are mere transport slopes (e.g. 30 and 38) for the various houses on the mountain sides and not really well suited for general skiing. Also, some green slopes are more difficult than their colour suggest in some passages, making it a bit treacherous for absolute beginners (particularly slope 20...
